One item of correspondence was received with a request that it be read out at the Annual General Meeting from Andrew Black

I wanted to contact the club to express my and my family's gratitude to WBRRFC for everything they have done for us. As you will likely be aware, our darling son James Black tragically died in October last year, aged just 12. He had a cardiac arrest whilst playing football at school and passed away in hospital 4 days later. He played for Rockcliff since joining the U6s. He loved rugby, the club and the many friends he made through Rockcliff. We are honoured that a shirt bearing his name will forever be on the wall of the clubhouse. Particular thanks must go to Neil Thornton, Martin Train and Richie Bloomfield for making this happen.

When we lost James in October the show of support we saw - with minutes' silences' happening not only at our club but throughout the wider rugby community - was immense. Seeing so many clubs paying their respects to our boy across the county and even up in Scotland was humbling.

The club's Boxing Day charity event with Percy Park saw a massive £3,537.46 raised for Cardiac Risk in the Young. Thank you!

Final thanks must go to Ben Carr and Carl Finn; James' rugby coaches. He loved them both. They worked tirelessly with the other coaches to improve the team and push the lads in a very healthy and positive way. Ben spoke at James' memorial in November, whilst also struggling with his own personal loss, which we will be forever grateful for.

At last year's end-of-season awards James was voted the players' player by his peers. That says it all. He was a popular, considerate teammate with lightning-quick pace scoring many tries for the team.

We love and miss James every day and thank Rockcliff for playing such an important role in his life and the time since.

Thank you,

Andrew & Julie Black"Once of Rockcliff, always of Rockcliff"
