When you come to the Library, Please:

1. Sign in when you enter the library.
2. Keep your mask on, please. No food in the Library.
3. Treat other humans with care and respect.
4. Treat the books, furniture and materials with care and respect.
5. Maintain safety. Walk. Don’t run.
6. Clean Up after yourself.
7. Talk quietly when necessary.
8. Printing is free up to 10 pages of academic work ($0.10/page after that). Color printing is $0.25 a page.

Join the Ortho Book Club!

This is the current Book Club. We’re about half way done with the book!

How the Ortho Book Club works:

Students choose:

• the book we’ll be reading.
• the day and time we’ll be meeting.
• how much we read each week.

​

We meet weekly (Weds after school in the library) and discuss themes in the book and how it connects to our lives. We also play games and get to know each other!

How the Library Club works-

Students get hours to help run the library during nutrition, lunch, & before/after school by:

• Doing book checkouts.
• Reminding people to sign in.
• Helping re-shelve books.
• Cleaning the library.

We meet weekly (Thurs after school in the library) and plan literacy related events and contests. We also play games and get to know each other!

Model School Library Standards

​

Standard 4: Students integrate information literacy skills into all areas of learning. Students will independently pursue information to become a lifelong learner.

Every LAUSD student automatically gets a Los Angeles Public Library (LAPL) Student Success Card (like the one pictured here).

If you don’t know your SSC Card # or PIN #, your teachers have that info in Schoology. Ask them!

Do you have a physical copy of your LAPL Card?

• Active til you are 21 years old!
• 3 physical books at one time
• NO FINES AND FEES EVER!!!!
• Students and their families will never be charged for any materials that are overdue, lost, damaged, or stolen. But if you lose, steal or damage all 3 books in 1 year, have to wait one whole year to get more.
• Instant access to all of LAPL’s online resources found at www.lapl.org
• If you lose the card, you can get a free one reissued.

Volunteer with them and get your hours!

Click to get a copy of the Ortho Community Service Form to complete your hours. If you participate in an LAPL Teen event, make sure to fill out the form, write a paragraph explaining what you did, what you learned and how you benefited from the experience.
