Setting up a Class Page with Common Student Logins

First - click on “Add a New Class” on your FOSSweb Teacher Page

  1. Be sure to select “Common Class Login”

2. Give your class page a title such as “Our 2nd Grade Science Page” and choose a common username and password for logging in.

Note: all students will use the same username and password

3. Select the modules you want to give students access to. You can add all modules now or add them as the year progresses. Then click “submit”

You have now created a class page with a common class login!

Students can access the class page by going to fossweb.com and entering the common username and password under the Login tab.

Assigning Content to Your Class Page

(both common and individual)

Click here to access your class page and assign content such as tutorials and virtual investigations to your students!

You will see that some content may be marked “All” next to a green person whereas some may show “0” next to a red person.

Simply click on the red person to assign to content to students in your class. It should turn to the green person. They should now have access on their class page to the content you unlocked.

After selecting the test you’d like to assign, you can use the drop down menu to select the class you’re assigning.

After you click “Assign” you will now see a “Test Assignment Code”. Should something happen during testing, students may need this code. You can print it or write it down for quick access.

Student Guide to FOSSmap

  • Login to your science class page on FOSSweb
  • Click on the current science course
  • Click on “Take an Assessment” underneath the “Assessments” tab
  • Login to FOSSmap
    • this will be the same username and password you use to login to FOSSweb
  • Once you’re logged in, you will see an Online Testing window with assignments listed
  • Click the “Launch” link next to the assignment you will take

Take a deep breath - You are now ready to begin!

Separate teacher and student login tabs have been replaced with a single "User Login" tab. All users (teachers, common classes, or individual students) use this one login.

Students should now click on the course you’re assessing.

Students can now click on the “Take Assessment” button.

Students will now be prompted to login to the FOSSmap Testing Platform using the same email and password they use to login to their class page.

Students will now see a list of available tests and they will click “Launch” to begin an assessment.

The next screen that comes up will look like this and students are now ready to begin the assessment.

and then click “Review/Grade Online Tests”

You will now be redirected to a Test Assignment page. Scroll down to see open assessments and click the button to start scoring the assessment.

How do my students and parents see their test results?

First, have students login to their FOSSweb accounts by using their unique username and password. Once logged in, they will select the module where they just took an assessment.

Have students click on “View Reports”. Students will only have reports to view if a teacher has graded and submitted the assessment.

Students are now in their Test Result Viewer where they can see the assessment they took, the date they took it, and their level of understanding for the assessment.

Details: Shows students the maximum code for each item, what code they got, and other information.

Review: Shows students a static view of their actual assessment with all their answers filled out. Students can not make changes to the test at this time.

This will bring you to the Reporting Dashboard. Here you can CLICK, HOLD and DRAG the assessments into the lower area to see more details.
