Simple and Compound Sentences
A sentence is a group of words that form a complete thought. It must contain : A SUBJECT (Person place thing or idea) AND a VERB (The thing the subject is or the thing the subject is doing).
A simple sentence
Example: Mrs Telea drove to school.
Mrs Telea drove to school.
Subject
Verb
Example: The dog played with the stick
The dog played with the stick
Example: John had never been to the library before
Example: The sheep were sleeping
Highlight the subject in red and the verb in blue.
Write 10 Simple sentences. Highlight the

Compound sentences = 2 simples sentences joined together by a conjunction - for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so, (FANBOYS)
Mrs Telea drove to school. She was happy. (simple)
Mrs Telea drove to school, and she was happy. (compound)
She changed the lightbulb. She didn’t like fixing things. (simple)
She changed the lightbulb, but she didn’t like fixing things. (compound)
