What Is Our Event About?

Learning Through Doing

Experience Solving Real-World Problems

Solving challenges collaboratively around a variety of relevant cyber concepts

(cryptanalysis, computer vision, applied software development for UAS, anti-jamming)

Provide students the opportunity to solve real-world problems, such as protecting drones from jamming attacks

Motivation

Why we made these challenges

  • Fun and competitive learning environment
  • Teaches Students about AI and Cyber
  • Hands On Experience

Why Drones?

  • Physical element
  • Students can see real world effect

Drone Course

  • Autonomous Drone Flight to Center of Gate
    • May or may not utilize Apriltags (will be provided if team wishes)
    • Must decrypt QR code during move
    • Must move to CORRECT gate
  • Encrypted QR Codes
    • Must only act on CORRECT QR code data
    • Must act on decrypted data inside after moving to the center of the gate

Drone Jamming Defense

  • Drone Should Avoid Jamming Attack
    • Drone should gracefully recover from Jamming attack
    • Avoid jamming, hover, or rebound after jamming (best to worst)
  • Requirements
    • Drone Works on 2.4GHZ band
    • Drone communicates wirelessly to a ground controller

Pickup and Delivery

  • Package Design
    • Design a package that will allow for the drone to hold a given payload
    • Package will be pre loaded (the drone does not need to pick it up)
  • Delivery
    • Drone will deliver package to a target and be scored based on where the package lands on the target.
  • Return
    • Drone must return to its original location and land to complete the challenge.

Object Detection

  • Machine Learning and AI for Object Detection
    • Detect green, yellow, and purple circles
    • Do NOT detect other shapes or objects

Next Steps

  • GMU will provide skeletal code as well as physical items
  • There will be two practice days
  • Competition will be in April
