Idea of IDG Hubs & Networks

Hubs or Networks are groups of people and/or organizations wanting to support the Inner Development Goals Initiative by:

  • Bringing people together around collective exploration and action
  • Helping ideas and good practices spread around the globe
  • Supporting social innovation that enables humanity to deal with complex challenges
  • Building capacity and resilient networks
  • Being organized around location like a city and region within a country and/or a theme

Naming your Hub or Network

We want to create a nomenclature that allows people to find hubs and networks with ease and clarity. Names should use the following format: ”IDG + Location + Theme + Hub/Network”, e.g. IDG Mumbai Musicians Hub or “IDG Global Practioners Network”. A Hub is generally connected to a location a Network is across geographical borders.

The basic intention with having a theme is to specify each hub’s/network’s purpose, to minimize unnecessary exclusion and unwarranted claims, and to open up for more targeted hubs that can provide specific value to those who want to join. Of course, any individual may be a member of several hubs and networks.

If you do not have any particular theme to add to your name, that is okay – the default would then be ”Community”, but then it needs to be a specific location (town/city), not a whole country or region, such as "IDG Johannesburg Community Hub”.

Examples of names that works well: IDG Rome U.Lab Hub, IDG Vienna Community Hub, IDG Global Practitioners’ Network

We are also becoming aware of the need to find a way to name collaboration between hubs within countries and regions. This is starting to happen both within countries and regions. In this case the name should have the following structure: ”IDG + Region/country + Hubs + Collaboration” e.g. IDG North American Hubs Collaboration or IDG Japan Hubs Collaboration.
