About the Library Chatsphere

  • Want to improve English listening and speaking skills but don’t have opportunities?
  • In the Library Chatsphere, you’ll meet students from different departments at NCHU.
  • You’ll participate in regular meetings with a group of 7 to 8 members to practice English.
  • The meeting topics are built around one or more SDGs from the UN, and meetings will use design thinking and library resources to explore and identify potential solutions.�

  • Time: 20 minutes per group.
  • Feedback: Each members is expected to provide feedback and share experiences equally gained from the Library Chatsphere.

  • Meeting diary for 5 sessions (30%): the completeness of each diary, the versatility of utilizing library’s resources.
  • Slides (10%): Structure, content, and design.
  • Speaking (30%) : Each member’s feedbacks.
  • Cooperation (20%): Group teamwork and overall energy.
  • Creativity (10%): Creativity in the topics discussed over the five sessions, their relation to the SDGs, and the design of the poster.

  • Choose your group’s topics
    • Here are some of the previous group topics we’ve had: Global Culinary, Know Yourself Better, Responsible Consumption and Reducing Waste, GMOs and Sustainable Food. We’re excited to see your topic spark members' interest and inspire engaging discussions.
    • Consider exploring diverse topics such as art (e.g., films, documentaries, music, theater), philosophy (e.g., college life struggles, life philosophy), astronomy and constellations, libraries, museums, pets, fun economics, fun psychology, sports, nutrition, health, and so on.
    • Tie at least two of your five group meetings to the UN SDGs for meaningful conversations.

  • Facilitate the meetings by using the library resources as much as you can (refer to slides p.20-63).
  • Upload the diary for each meeting to Google Drive within 5 days
  • Recording a 3-5minute member feedback video
  • Submit the slides for sharing party before 5/18
  • Attend sharing party

  • By the end of the semester, record a 3-minute video sharing your experience for future leaders.
  • Each leader will receive NT$9,600 salary for the tasks. (ARC)
  • However, NT$200 will be deducted per session if the tasks are not completed, such as fail to upload the diaries within 5 days.
