SARP Overview

  • 2009 to present (16th year!)
    • Record # of applicants this year (>500)
  • 8 week summer internship
  • Rising-senior undergraduates
  • West Coast and East Coast
  • Students:
    • Participate in airborne data collection
    • Conduct relevant fieldwork
    • Design, implement, and present their own independent research projects
    • Final product: AGU-style abstract & 12-minute presentation

  • Strong (Average GPA >3.8) STEM majors
    • Atmospheric Science

  • Historical focus on recruitment from liberal arts colleges. Typically:
    • Excellent preparation in fundamental physical science, but
