CEO Update for LCPS Board of Directors - 2.7.24

Goal Updates

1

#1A - Academic Performance

Increase student proficiency in ELA / Math by

10% across grades, LEAs, and subgroups

on CAASPP

Current data appears to point to strong performance in the majority of grades levels/content areas this year based on our January/February Interim Assessment round 4.

  • In the CAO Academic Update, we have our Feb interim assessment data: we are finding that over 50% of our tested grades are performing above spring scale score baselines from last year.

  • Student Subgroups: We will have started our ELCAP testing in February, which has significant impact to the current calculations for charter renewal. Schools have completed the reading/writing sections, and will be doing the listening/speaking, which require 1:1 administration.

  • CA dashboard scores: We used a spreadsheet that had all Oakland (District and Charter schools) and put a numerical value for each dashboard color and converted the values to a “GPA”. Please look at this spreadsheet to show relative comparison by school and by CMO.

#1B - Academic - Performance

Maintain College and Career (CCI) performance

at Lighthouse and Lodestar High School

Our current high school programming is such that the significant majority of our students are College and Career Index ready, which means that they are A-G and either have passing CAASSP exams in 11th grade, have 6+ college course credits, and/or completed a CTE Sequence:

  • Lodestar Charter Renewal: We are on pace to graduate our first class of seniors, and they are trending above state CCI averages, which will be favorable to the charter renewal case in 2025.

  • Successful Dual Credit Semester: We are offering Intercultural Communication, First Aid and Safety, Marketing, and Entrepreneurship across our two high schools.

  • College Acceptances are rolling in but the FAFSA process has been challenging: All of our acceptances should be completed by the end of this month for four year universities. CSUs have come in, waiting on UC and private colleges.
