What is a SlideSnap?

A SlideSnap is a Learning Artifact tool which allows teachers to assess students productivity and understanding on any activity in class in at any time. A learning artifact (or educational artifact) is an object created by students during the course of instruction. To be considered an artifact, an object needs to be lasting, durable, public, and materially present. The concept of making knowledge visible is a central component. The creation and display of these artifacts allow students opportunities for engagement, revision, and feedback, all hallmarks of quality learning design.

How do I use a SlideSnap?

At any moment during a project and activity announce to the class to complete a SlideSnap. It is a good idea for students to already have a frame number in mind so multiple students do not begin working on the same frame. Students will then take a picture or take a screenshot of their current progress on the assignment or project. Students will place the picture in the SlideSnap and place an emoji over the image that represents how they feel about their progress. Students will then type in the textbox about their knowledge so far, and then use Screencastify to verbally explain their progress and embed the video in the video section of the SlideSnap.

    • Sad: I am still confused by the activity
    • Angry: The activity was difficult for me to complete
    • Question Mark: I still have questions about the activity
  • Explain the screenshot you brought in in section labeled: Text Here. What was the task you were asked to complete. What did you learn? What questions do you still have?
  • Use the classroom prefered screen recording tool to explain the process you went through to complete the project.
