  • Heat is ALWAYS transferred from an object at a higher temperature to an object at a lower temperature until thermoequilibrium is reached (at the same temperature)
  • Exothermic - system giving off heat and its temperature is lowered (negative)
  • Endothermic - system taking in heat and its temperature is raised (positive)
  • Both of these processes occur at the same time.
