Event Check OUT

Step 1: Go to Race Desk for check-in

  • Pick up competitors packet
  • Pick up guest passes
  • Review Land plan
  • Damage deposit - Charters $500 USD CASH (returned at end of event)
  • Pick up SAIL

Step 2: Go to SYC Check-in

  • T-Shirt Voucher redemption
  • Purchase any additional Guest Passes/Coach Passes
  • Pick up Coach Boat Flag/Coach boat charter
  • Confirm return transportation

Step 3: Go to ZIM Charter Check out

  • Pick up Charter boat
  • Review boat & charter instructions

Step 4: Measurement

  • Boat must be fully rigged, sail on and hoisted for measurement.
  • Lifejacket in the boat for check
  • Compass in the boat for check

Step 1: ZIM for charter Check in

  • Go over the boat with ZIM
  • Sail must be folded in BAG
  • Any damage is noted with price.
  • Get CHECK OUT TICKET

Step 2: Go to Race Desk

  • Redeem Check out ticket for Damage deposit
  • $500 USD returned unless damage is noted by ZIM

Travel

Airport: GYE (Guayaquil) to Salinas - 2.5 hrs by shuttle

Do not walk outside the Airport

  • Airport Hotel: Holiday Inn GYE is recommended others nearby but ONLY Take shuttle service provided by hotel.
  • Book your SYC Transportation to pick up at GYE or Hotel.
  • Salinas is a small beach town, very easy to walk between hotel and SYC if you stay close.

Other notes from a sailor who has raced there

  • Team Shirt for Opening Ceremonies
  • Grocery store is 10 min walk from SYC (Supermaxi 9am-8pm)
  • Pharmacy: Fybeca and Cruz Azul, 24hr.
  • American style Power Outlets
  • Club also sells snacks and gatorade
  • Filtered water at club, bring own refillable bottles
  • Peanut butter is not commonly found, FYI
  • 3 restaurants on site, 1 very fancy must have collar shirt and closed toe shoes, food is wonderful and the best place to eat.
  • Pack a praddle/small paddle to help assist out of the harbour
  • Beach town = late night disco, pack ear plugs and eye shades
  • US Dollars = bring some smaller bills for tipping etc.
  • Credit Card only at Club - charge for each purchase
  • Ziplocks for snacks/lunch on the water
  • Temperatures cna range from 23C to 28C (73F to 83F) however it can be humid, bring sunscreen

CHARTER BOAT OUTFITTING:

NO PARTS CAN BE PURCHASED ON SITE!!

Items that WILL BE PROVIDED as part of your charter:

  • Hull
  • Race Spars (upper, boom, mast assembled with gooseneck, interlocking eyebolts and quick adjust lever already installed)
  • Blades (daggerboard and rudder with cheeks installed)
  • Tiller & Tiller Extension 36” provided (wishbone style) - allen universal and saddle
  • Hiking Strap will be installed (bring own bungee & tie in)
  • Sail Ties Set Provided (includes corner ties)
  • Cockpit self-bailer (pre-installed)
  • Dynamic Dolly
  • Harken 57mm ratchet block with stand up spring

Sailors MUST BRING the following items:

  • Halyard(s)
  • Outhaul
  • Cunningham
  • Mainsheet
  • 2 to one block (if desired)
    • Traveller Bridle fairleads cannot be removed to install
    • Harken 2 to 1 doesn’t require this to be removed
  • Hiking Strap bungee and Tie In
  • Bungee for daggerboard
  • Compass
  • Towline 25’

MODIFICATIONS NOT ALLOWED/ALLOWED:

NO PARTS CAN BE PURCHASED ON SITE!!

Please review list completely, modifications made could result in loss of full boat deposit.

  • No drilling holes into boat
  • Tape that doesn’t leave residue is allowed
  • Mounting Compass on hull with velcro is allowed, please remove velcro when turning boat back in
  • No additional fittings can be drilled and installed onto mast
  • Bottom of hull cannot be wet sanded, but it can be cleaned
  • If you purchased a boat, you still cannot drill into boat, or drill into spars to keep it even amongst all boats
  • The booms have all cleats and caps installed per specifications from the class (again you cannot drill into mast to mount cleat)
  • Not permitted to back out fairlead that holds traveller on to install 2:1
  • You may not replace the blocks on the lower booms

Open Worlds only - must have ALPHA Codes installed on sail prior to measurement
