What it will look like

  • Each wrestler will wrestle three matches in a round robin format.
  • Each wrestler will wrestle on only their mat
  • Each wrestler will have three numbers written on their hand (take a picture of these numbers)
  • I will post these numbers in the Team App, but they could change by Sunday morning.
  • Your wrestle should inform a coach when they are “in the hole”. No kid should ever wrestle without a coach.
  • PARENTS STAY BACK. Let the coaches do their thing and the refs do their thing.

Winning/Losing

  • Do not focus on winning and losing. Your wrestler will do that enough
  • Focus on these three things…
    • Sportsmanship - win or lose show good sportsmanship
    • Effort - this is different for every kid. Don’t give up. Try your best
    • Try moves - This will best be explained by a coach
  • After every match wrestlers will shake hands with the other wrestler, shake hands with the other coach and then go back to CD’s coach for praise and polish talk. If your wrestle needs a second to ‘cool’ down, give them a minute or two but be sure to have them go back to a coach after that.

  • There’s a lot of down time, bring something to do… cheer on teammates and other families
