Integration of AI and neuroscience

Neuroscience principles have uplifted the AI field and vice versa. For example, neuroscience has helped researchers validate existing AI-based models. Likewise, biological neural networks have helped develop deep neural network architectures with several applications, such as text processing and speech recognition.
AI-based systems have helped neuroscientists test their hypotheses and analyze neuroimaging data, which, in turn, help with the early prediction and diagnosis of psychiatric disorders. Furthermore, these AI systems set up an interface with the brain, extract neurological signals, and generate commands that help devices, such as robotic arms, to move paralyzed human parts.
Throughout history, neuroscience has had a significant impact on the development of artificial intelligence (AI), such as Perceptron - the first artificial neural network, and computer vision models. More recently, there have been growing trends to leverage neuroscience principles to push AI forward. Meanwhile, neuroscience is entering a new era of large-scale high-resolution data and trying to decipher the network level mechanism of the information processing in the brain than ever before
AI is now increasingly being employed as a tool for neuroscience research and is transforming our understanding of brain functions. In particular, deep learning has been used to model how convolutional layers and recurrent connections in the brain’s cerebral cortex control important functions, including visual processing, memory, and motor control.
The future of integration of AI and neuroscience
with the use of AI we can learn more about the human brain and its cognitive abilities and it will help us in finding answers to the age-old questions regarding cognition, memory and immortality. Moreover, the continuity of research can unveil more about deep-seated neurons in the brain in response to sensory visions. Artificial networks cannot wholly copy a human brain, but the scope of growth is there if the research is done on a broader level
