Category of Crimes

• Larceny/Theft and Vehicle Theft are the most common criminal activities in San Francisco
• It is recommended to adjust the punishment for these two types of crimes

Crimes in Different Districts

• There is difference of almost 300k cases between the district with the most cases and the district with the least cases
• Southern district is the district with the most cases and it is recommended to distribute more police forces in this area

Crime in a Year

• There is usually less crime at the end of a year
• This may because of the holiday season
• This may also be caused by the reduce of case report due to the lack of police forces
• Further study is recommended to dig deeper for the reason
• Cases in April 2018 is significantly lower, and it is reasonable to believe that it is because the data is not complete at the time of data pulling

Crime in a Day

• Crimes are mostly happened during 10 am to 7 pm
• It is recommended for the Police department to have most police forces arrange their shift during these hours
• It is recommended to have more patrol out on the street during these hours

Recommendation of Police Dispatch

• Southern and Mission are the two districts with most crime cases reported during a day
• More police forces are recommended to be dispatched to these two areas despite of time
• Previous recommendation should also be helpful for improving crimes in these two areas.

Resolution of crimes

• Prostitute has the highest resolution rate of above 80% while Recovered has the lowest resolution rate that is lower than 10%
• It is recommended for the police department to arrange for policemen in solving the categories with lower resolution rate
• Entrapment might be the reason of high resolution rate in prostitute and this is worth the attention of the management
