Autumn Highlights
World Smile Day
The highlight of World Smile Day was our very talented student Jason who sang at Westfield on 2nd October with a group called Rays of Sunshine. The celebrity guest accompanying Jason was the wonderful Pixie Lott!
Macmillan Coffee Morning
In September we hosted 3 Macmillan Coffee Mornings. Parents and the local community supported generously by buying raffle tickets and giving donations. The students served tea and coffee and thanks to their enthusiasm, hard work and the generous support of everyone, we raised an amazing £450.
Black History Month
We had lots of activities to mark October as Black History Month including a special service in the Chapel and an assembly. We also created some African inspired displays in the chapel and reception areas. Staff cooked a selection of delicious traditional food and both staff and students dressed in some beautiful, colourful African costumes. The week ended with a carnival with music, dancing and more traditional treats.
Harvest
We acknowledged the bountiful Harvest season by harvesting all of the delicious fruits and vegetables that our school allotment and gardens have given us. Some of the produce was transformed into delicious Strawberry and Blackcurrant jam; some became Courgette and Tomato chutney.
Children in Need 2021
To mark Children in Need 2021, the school held a variety of events, including a special assembly. The whole school community was involved and everyone was encouraged to wear yellow / coloured spots to get into the mood! During the week, we sold hotdogs and a selection of home-made spring rolls and delicious cakes.
Christmas
Our Christmas Performance this year was entitled ‘What is The Greatest Gift?’. It included a dance piece, Christmas readings, songs, traditional carols, a sketch and a student and staff solo. Every class presented various gifts and related posters such as Courage, Hope and Peace. During the reflection we asked ourselves the question ‘What is the Greatest Gift?’ to which we all agreed that the Greatest Gift is Love. There was so much talent to be admired and our wonderful choir helped to spread the joy.
Spring Highlights
On 11th February we celebrated Number Day. Number Day is a nationally recognised day where schools up and down the country take part to raise money for the NSPCC. Our students took part in a range of activities such as a Number and Shape Hunt in the field, guess the weight of the cake, guess how many sweets are in the jar, a Raffle and giant number games. They also had sports activities such as scoring goals and hoops as well as a Numicon circuit and walking laps around the Bike Track
World Book Day
Students and staff enjoyed taking part in World Book Day on Thursday 3rd March. Everyone was encouraged to come dressed as a book character. The day started with an assembly. There were many literary as well as craft and fun activities planned which the students really enjoyed
St Patricks Day
St Patricks Day was a wonderful opportunity to remember the patron Saint and celebrate all things Irish! Everyone was encouraged to wear green on the day and we had a special assembly to mark the occasion.
Sacrament of Baptism and Reconciliation
On 30th March we had a special Mass which was celebrated by Fr Nicholas Schofield. We were delighted that one of our students, David, received the Sacrament of Baptism. It was a really joyful celebration. On the same day, 5 other students - Nicole, Caitlin, Kade, Kobi and Ashley - also made their Sacrament of Reconciliation
Mothers Day
Thanks to our green-fingered Pield Heath Gardeners, This Mother’s Day, we were able to give all our Mums / Carers a bunch of daffodils to say Thank you for all that they do throughout the year.
Summer Highlights
On 25th May we had a special service of thanksgiving in the chapel to Mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. This was followed the next day by a banquet where everyone was able to get into the festive mood. The school was decked with red, white and blue bunting and Union Jack Flags.
