Week 1: 8/11/25 - 8/15/25
Monday (8/11/25): Setting up student Google Drives (folders for class work), logging in to the Google Classroom, Personal writing exercise (exit ticket).
Tuesday (8/12/25): Aimsweb test to gather student reading level Data, Personal writing exercise (“Boring” writing slides).
Wednesday (8/13/25): Four corners class discussion practice and writing. Beginning Grammar lessons starting in Subject/predicate and parts of speech (guided notes and exit ticket if time permits).
Thursday (8/14/25): Subject predicate and parts of speech review activities and notes continued from the previous lesson.
Friday (8/15/25): Text annotation notes, class reading and analysis of short story The Sniper.
Week 2: 8/18/25 - 8/22/25
Monday (8/18/25): Taking notes on independent and dependent clauses from Google classroom. Beginning Grammar homework (Due Wednesday).
Tuesday (8/19/25): Subordinate clauses/conjunctions review. Beginning primary source annotation activity on the Gettysburg Address (Due Friday).
Wednesday (8/20/25): Additional time to work on and review primary source annotation activity from Tuesday’s class, library day.
Thursday (8/21/25): Practice quiz/review on independent/dependent clauses and sentence types in preparation for Friday’s quiz. Time for peer reviewing primary source annotation assignment.
Friday (8/22/25): Sentence type/clause type quiz based on the week’s grammar material. Continuing last week’s film+writing activity.
Week 3: 8/25/25 - 8/29/25
Monday (8/25/25): Beginning work in Amplify unit 8A (link posted in the Google Classroom
Tuesday (8/26/25): Prepositional phrases notes and practice (notes posted in the Google classroom, finishing any unfinished activities in Monday’s assignment.
Wednesday (8/27/25): Masteryconnect quiz (participatory grade for skill analysis), library day
Thursday (8/28/25): Prepositional phrases practice activity, Amplify 8A:subunit 2: Lesson 4- Focus on a moment (link to be posted in the GC).
Friday (8/29/25): Prepositional phrases quiz, finishing unfinished activities from previous day’s Amplify lesson.
Week 4: 9/2/2025 - 9/5/2025
Tuesday (9/2/25): Students participate in a creative writing response activity as well as answering questions related to Amy Tan’s short personal narrative Fish Cheeks (assignment on Google Classroom)
Wednesday (9/3/25): Masteryconnect quiz (participatory grade for skill analysis), library day (To be Linked on the Google Classroom)
Thursday (9/4/25): Amplify unit 8A: Subunit 2: Lesson 3- Show Your Emotion, Time to finish previous day’s MasteryConnect.
Friday (9/5/25): Time to present the previous day’s personal narratives written in Amplify lesson 3 “show your emotion”. / Prepositional Phrases as sentence modifiers lesson and practice (Assignment on Google Classroom)
Week 5: (9/8/25 - 9/12/25)
Monday (9/8/25): Objects of verbs (direct and indirect) notes for Friday’s test and general grammar practice.
Tuesday (9/9/25): Beginning Amplify unit 8A: Perspectives and Narrative: Subunit 3: Lesson 1- “What’s going to ‘appen to it?” lesson on Roald Dahl’s use of dialogue and tone in his memoir Going Solo.
Wednesday (9/10/25): Grammar practice test and review/ library day.
Thursday (9/11/25): Final review day in preparation for test / Guidance activity during second half of block.
Friday (9/12/25): Grammar Test 2 / finishing unfinished work from this week’s Amplify lesson.
Week 6: (9/15/25 - 9/19/25)
Monday (9/15/25): Reviewing previous lesson in going solo posted in last Tuesday’s assignment post in the Google Classroom before beginning new lesson on Going Solo (Two Conversations) examining how dialogue is used to establish tone and character.
Tuesday (9/16/25): Finishing previous day’s lesson activities before beginning the following lesson on Roald Dahl’s Going Solo, Speeding Up and Slowing Down.
Wednesday (9/17/25): Class reading of Going Solo’s first two chapters outside of Amplify materials and class discussion/reflective writing.
Thursday (9/18/25): Masteryconnect assessment on the standards covered in this week’s lesson with Going Solo.
Friday (9/19/25): No school, parent-teacher conference day.
Week 7: (9/22/25 - 9/26/25)
Monday (9/22/25): Beginning notes on verbal phrases, beginning with gerundial phrases. Beginning the My Mother’s Garden lesson in the third subunit of the perspectives and narrative Amplify unit.
Tuesday (9/23/25): Finishing previous day’s lesson activities for “My Mother’s Garden”. Continuing notes on verbals with infinitive phrases slides on Google Classroom.
Wednesday (9/24/25): Second and final lesson in the Amplify subunit on My Mother’s Garden. Preparing for next week’s writing project following tests on Monday.
Thursday (9/25/25): Reviewing paragraph structure and outlining strategies for formal, five-paragraph essays.
Friday (9/26/25): ELA Cyclone checkpoint 1 part 1 (writing portion)
Week 8: (9/22/25 - 10/3/25)
Monday (9/29/25): ELA Cyclone Checkpoint pt. 2 (Multiple Choice)
Tuesday (9/30/25): Reviewing informational paragraph structure w/ notes and writing prompt introduction
Wednesday (10/1/25): Using yesterday’s notes with the informational text to produce a short informational essay.
Thursday (10/2/25): Finishing yesterday’s essays, free period with board games for qualifying classes
Friday (10/3/25): OVT Hike, No regular class.
