Create Outsized Impact

LEEP exists to have the largest positive impact it can

This is our overarching value and north star. By impact, we mean improving the quality of people's lives or preventing them from dying prematurely. We seize the opportunity to drive large-scale change and improve hundreds of millions of lives worldwide.

We measure success through meaningful outcomes, and share this transparently

We recognize our responsibility to those affected by lead poisoning demands real results, not superficially impressive actions. Sharing what we actually achieve holds us accountable to our ultimate goal of improving health, wellbeing, and longevity.

We recognise that our resources are precious

Our time and funding is valuable, so we deliberately invest it where it will generate the most impact. We think rigorously but move quickly - the sooner we get the lead out, the more poisoning we prevent. We actively seek cost-effective approaches in order to make our funding go further, being mindful of its opportunity cost.

We share insights and learnings openly

We're transparent about what works and what doesn't, and we share both our successes and failures. By explaining the “why” behind our decisions, we help our team and the wider field learn from our experience and make greater progress together.

We learn through experimentation

We embrace learning through action. While we value thoughtfulness and planning, we prioritise learning through doing. We test ideas early and iterate based on real-world results. Our pilots and action-oriented work reveal what actually works, helping us make decisions grounded in reality.

Learn from Evidence and Experimentation

We stay humble and open-minded

We approach our work with genuine humility, recognising that we don’t have all the answers. We actively seek and listen closely to data, evidence, and the expertise of people working in the diverse contexts where we operate. When the facts point elsewhere, we’re open to changing course.

Stay Agile

We are relentless in our pursuit of impact

We leave no stone unturned, using creative solutions across both public and private sectors. When obstacles arise, we don’t let them become dead-ends. Instead, we persistently try alternative routes to impact.

We bring solutions, even if they’re imperfect

We’re pragmatic: we don’t let perfect be the enemy of good. We’re realistic about the complexities of our work but we’re mindful not to fall into analysis paralysis.

We adapt to the world, not the other way around

We are flexible and adaptable and make decisions based on what’s happening around us, both in local contexts and in the broader ecosystem. We don’t get locked into a rigid approach; we respond to what reality requires.

Care and Collaborate

We are caring and constructive

We look out for one another. The work we do is important and often difficult and we support each other through challenges and celebrate our team’s successes. We create space for colleagues to share the obstacles they face, then bring empathy, energy, and positivity to working through them together.

We are “all hands on deck”

We collaborate to meet our shared goals and achieve maximum impact. Our joint commitment to LEEP’s mission and to each other means that we value one another’s advice and trust one another’s intentions.

We are open and open-minded

We communicate with kindness and candour across all levels of the team, guided by the belief that thoughtful honesty allows us to learn and grow more quickly. Our diversity of thought and experience is a critical asset that we respect and encourage, not just tolerate or acknowledge.
