Tips to setting up a successful season!

  • Parent meeting, Parent meeting, Parent meeting!
  • Make sure team managers, coaches, parents, and players are all aligned on the goals for the players and team prior to the season. When everyone is pointed in the same direction your team has a much higher chance of having a successful season. Success is not solely based on wins and loses but rather player development and experience in youth sport.
  • Fair Play Codes
  • Expectations on how absent players are to notify the coach.
  • Itinerary and timeline for when players need to be at rink for games and practices
  • Outline if parents are allowed in the room and if so till when?
  • Time commitment
  • Respect for themselves, all players (own team and opposition) officials, parents, etc.
  • Expected conduct – games, practices, locker room, events
  • Discipline – Player conduct, Parent conduct at games, team functions etc
  • Here’s what most coaches are trying to accomplish:
  • Everyone has a positive experience
  • Everyone has fun playing with their friends new and old
  • Everyone gets better and learns skills on and off the ice
  • Everyone wants to come back next year in some capacity
