Pre-JMRC, Oct. 2022

The VPA must provide direct support for the technical and financial needs of Indigenous Peoples’ organisations so that they may enhance the representation, effective participation and inclusion of indigenous communities throughout the process. Recommended support may include (but is not limited to):

  1. Continuous independent outreaches to raise awareness in the communities involved in logging and which are impacted by logging

  • Lend coordination and facilitation support to address grievances

  • Participatory discussions and agreements outlining what the definition of "traditional rights" mean to Indigenous Peoples and how this can be respected by different sectors in Guyana
