We are excited to share our NEW companion Unit Planners for your next Unit of Study in Writing according to the possible year alignment shown in the Elementary Integration Document. They will help teachers to prepare for the next writing unit,

to understand the larger vision/goals of a unit, and provide a simplified way to get the gist of each session at a glance. When creating these Unit Planners we attempted to:

  • Link in all relevant online resources for accessibility
  • Keep each session to one page
  • Add additional unit supports including: Serravallo connected lessons, mentor text suggestions, on demand assessments, conferring resources, family supports, resources in spanish linked where available, etc.
  • Create a Seesaw activity for each lesson which encourages student voice and creates a digital record to share of student process and learning.

We hope this resource is helpful and welcome your input and suggestions to make the planners even more useful.

And what if all of those resources were organized by appropriate grade level and subject area to find easily? Well, we have come to the end of a wonderful year of learning and trying new things together. This was my first year in this new position as an Instructional Innovation resource for 4 elementary schools. I have been so fortunate to meet so many wonderful teachers and I am so grateful to have been welcomed into your buildings, your trainings, and your classrooms.

As I look ahead to how I can best help teachers in our district next year, I would LOVE your feedback in this survey to help me plan. I sincerely value it and it will make an impact.

As if you needed an incentive, I will be giving away

six OSMO genius and Coding kits on 6/15 in a random

drawing for those who complete the survey.

Thank you again for your willingness to learn with me this year!

INTERACTIVE WORD WALL

Check out this idea by Traci Piltz about creating a word wall using QR codes in Seesaw. Students can hear the word read and spelled out by scanning it. The ultimate goal would be for students to record their own word cards to add to the interactive class word wall. Such ownership!

Looking for end-of the-year activities that promote collaboration & critical thinking? Take a peek at these three NEW & free Breakouts!

ACTIVITIES

You will not need to archive Seesaw classes, as they will be archived automatically when we roster classes through Synergy in the fall. Next year, you can access archived classes by using the gear menu and selecting “manage archived classes.”

You will receive emails asking you to complete end-of-year steps -- including archiving classes -- so please ignore those emails and keep your classes as they are. Classes and rosters will persist through the summer, which can be useful for summer school or summer reading programs.

Here are directions you can share with families about downloading student portfolios. Parents will need to be connected to student journals and it’s not too late to invite parents to connect. Parents will be able to access portfolios from multiple years.
