Cornell Pre-college was in person on campus at Ithaca, New York. Ithaca is a beautiful place filled with nature. It won’t be like what you’re used to here in New York City, however, the greeneries compensate for it. The campus is huge, having different colleges under the university. I stayed at Clara Dickson Hall and ate at Toni Morrison Hall.

Where did the EP take place? What was the area/campus/

Cornell Pre-college was in person on campus at Ithaca, New York. Ithaca is located in the Upstate New York. Cornell location showcases a lot of beautiful greeneries, hill, and waterfalls. The large campus allow for many students to explore and discover new pieces of cornell. The university has multiple colleges within, which allow students to explore subjects. Most students will stay in Clara Dickson or Jameson Hall, both are 5 min away from Toni Morrison, a dinning hall. Students are allowed to explore all of the 5 dining halls in campus. Additionally, students will receive $75 dollars in Red Bucks to buy food for the Cornell convenience store.

The goal of my EP was to experience independence and gain college experience while studying a topic of my interest. I was able to successfully fulfill my goals during this trip. During my EP, I learned about the history of medicine and how politics is an aspect of it. I was also able to write a credible piece of writing using Cornell’s library research.

What was the overall goal of your EP? What did you do/learn/accomplish?

My day would be very productive at Cornell. I would walk up get ready to go to class in the morning and come back to finish my work/study for an upcoming quiz. After that, I would go eat and hang out with my friends. We would stay together until it gets dark and we would go get ice cream from Toni Morison.

One thing I knew for a fact when it came to the EP process was that I wanted to do either travel or academic. I wanted to do academic because It had everything I wanted out of it. Independence and education. The application itself wasn’t too complicated. It consisted of writing a couple of ‘supplemental essay’ like questions. I got all the support I needed in order to submit my application with confidence. I got proofreading from an instructor here in SEO. The hardest part was getting the whole application done on time.

How did you decide to apply for this program? What was the application process like?

One thing I would have done differently would be to correct the revisions I have received right away. I would set it aside for an hour or two and would stress myself out even more. One thing I do regret doing during my program was being worried the first 2 days on my EP. This was my first time being away from home but I also had to take two regents back to back after the first 2 days on my EP.

What would you have done differently if you could re-do your EP or the EP application process?
