Preparing for Next Generation Online Assessments

Statewide next generation online assessments are coming. How will this affect your assessment practices? By completing this module, educators will understand how to design and create high quality, next generation assessment items. These assessment items will help teachers better assess their students’ understanding of state standards, as well as provide their students with assessment experiences similar to future statewide next generation assessments.

After completing this module, educators will:

• Know how to create a variety of quality online assessment items
• Understand how to write quality assessment items
• Make connections between state standards and next generation assessments utilizing best practices
• Transfer the learning to professional practice by creating and reviewing a next generation assessment item

Why Module 5 is Important

In order to prepare students for statewide next generation assessments, it is important for teachers to include next generation assessment items on classroom assessments.

Module 5: Activities

Teachers will:

• Review statewide assessment plan
• Analyze next generation items
• Create next generation item specification table and item
• Review and submit item specification tables to statewide assessment item database
• Minimum Length of time is 4 hours to complete this module
