About Academy Movement

Jimmy Orange - Director and Founder

Academy Movement Inc are a not for profit organisation who provide education consultancy services to schools to establish high level sport academies. We are working with Hoppers Crossing Secondary College to establish and grow an exceptional Cricket Academy.

We are focused on:

      • Better student engagement in school
      • Higher levels of academic success
      • Building a winning and respectful culture at school
      • Creating pathways to careers for students in the future
      • Promoting and developing physically and mentally healthy youth

Today, Academy Movement supports 21 academies across 14 schools, with programs running from Year 7 through to Year 12, and pathways into VET, tertiary study, and the sports industry.

We have successful partnerships with Rugby Australia, Cricket Victoria, Basketball Victoria and AFL Victoria and are working with schools in the west, north, east and regional areas, and across multiple sports.

Hoppers Crossing SC X Academy Movement

The Hoppers Crossing SC and Academy Movement partnership means Hoppers Crossing Secondary College also be officially partnered with:

        • Cricket Victoria and
          • Aligned with Melbourne Renegades Big Bash team.

      • We will be launching a specialist Cricket Academy Classes at Years 9, Yr 10 and Yr 11 in 20279, 10 and 11 in 2027.

The Year 9 Cricket Academy classes will run for the full year (Semester 1 and Semester 2) in place of ALL elective subjects in each semester.

      • High level Cricket training sessions facilitated by our Cricket teaching staff
      • Theory classroom lessons with accelerated Sports Science content under a cricket context.
      • Ten periods per fortnight with five practical sessions and five theory sessions
      • Fundamental cricket skills development and conditioning training
      • Certifications:
        • Community Officiating Course (Level 1 Umpiring)
        • Community Cricket Coaching (Level 1 Coaching)

Year 10

The Year 10 Cricket Academy class will run for the full year in place of one of the elective subjects in each semester.

      • High level Cricket training sessions facilitated by our Cricket staff
      • Theory classroom lessons with accelerated Sports Science content under a cricket context.
      • One VCE unit
        • Certificate II in Sports Coaching (Including SISSS0018 Sports Trainer Skill Set)
            • Community Officiating Course (Level 1 Umpiring)
            • Community Cricket Coaching (Level 1 Coaching)
        • Provide First Aid qualification
      • Three periods per week; two practical training sessions and one theory session

The Hoppers Crossing Secondary College Cricket Academy strives for academic excellence, as such the students in Year 10 will receive a VCE Units which supports a full VCE load in Year 11.

    • High level Cricket training sessions facilitated by our Cricket staff
    • Theory classroom lessons on topics relating to Cricket and high-level sport
    • Two VCE units
      • First year Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation (Units 1 & 2)
    • Three periods per week; two practical training sessions and one theory session

    • High level Cricket training sessions facilitated by our Cricket staff

      • Second year of Certificate III in Sport, Aquatics and Recreation (Units 3 & 4)
    • Four periods per week; two practical training sessions and two theory sessions

Cricket Australia’s Community Officiating Accreditation Program – an entry level course designed for those interested in becoming cricket umpires on a regular paid basis for the first time.

Community Cricket Coaching

Students in Year 11 and 12 classes will complete a Certificate III Sport and Recreation qualification which focuses on Cricket and creates a pathway into the Sports Industry in the future.

Students in the Cricket Academy will gain a full First Aid qualification and Certificate II in Sports Coaching

As members of the Hoppers Crossing Secondary College Cricket Academy, you will be given the privilege of wearing a special uniform made by Puma.

Competitions, Excursions and Tours

As a member of the Hoppers Crossing Secondary College Cricket Academy, you will be expected to compete in all tournaments and games you are eligible to play in for the school.

You’ll also get the chance to tour high performance facilities at Junction Oval.

Long term, the academy teams may have the chance to tour interstate and internationally.

Any member of the Hoppers Crossing Secondary College Cricket Academy are expected to sign and abide by an Academy Code of Conduct and Ethics that includes:

      • Respectful behaviour at all times at school and in public
      • Acceptable attendance
      • Submission of all school tasks in a timely manner and best effort in all subjects
      • High level of organisation in class and at training
      • Representing the school in a way that aligns with the values of HCSC.

Applications

Students wishing to be a member of either academy will be required to select the Cricket Academy as a first choice for your electives, then complete an application form via Microsoft Forms. This will require the applicant to address how they embody the school values and provide a character and coach's reference as well as their most recent academic report

Selection is about attitude, commitment, and potential — not just talent.

Applications open May 12ᵗʰ and close on June 25th 2026.

Cricket Scholarship Opportunities

There may be opportunities for members of the academy that make any Victorian State Rep Cricket team for regional or national teams to apply for a school cricket scholarship.

Students must maintain a passing grade in all subjects leading into a VCE study pathway into Year 11 and 12.

Scholarship will cover Cricket Academy related costs for each year they are eligible.

Scholarship Outline

AM will provide a scholarship for the successful applicant covering the Academy fees and related costs up to the value of $500 per school year that they are successful in obtaining the scholarship

AM will provide personalised mentoring from industry leaders and guidance towards success in the applicant’s chosen career pathway

The successful applicant must:

      • be in Year 9, 10 or 11 at the start of the school year
      • be playing the club Cricket
      • be academically, and career driven
      • have a perfect school attendance record
      • have a good school behaviour record
      • show leadership qualities
      • be driven to be the best version of themselves
