SMALL GROUP BREAKOUT

Please take a moment to discuss in small groups:

1. Short-term Borrowing – When is it appropriate?

    • Cover a cashflow shortage within the year
    • In advance of known revenue increases within a year
    • To fill a deficit gap, regardless if you can pay it back in the year
    • Only in unforeseen emergencies, don’t normalize borrowing

2. Review & provide feedback on the draft Committee Considerations

3. March Committee Survey

FILLING THE GAP

Short Term Borrowing

  • Interfund – Apportionment Advance – County Treasurer
  • Requires significant revenue growth to payoff
  • Absent more revenues, additional cuts necessary

2026-27 Budget

  • State Revenues: Not likely to see a significant increase
  • Levy Lid Lift: Could cover the remaining gap
  • Potential Budget Cuts: Reduce choice schools/programs, reduce elementary schools, and/or reduce extracurricular (Trade offs)

NOVEMBER SURVEY FEEDBACK

Board policy will set 8% as the district's minimum fund balance threshold. How many years into the future should we take to reach that level?

Our primary revenue driver is enrollment.

For 2025-26, do you think enrollment will?

If you were in charge of addressing a 10-12% budget deficit, what areas would you target (drag to rank from highest priority to lowest)

Next meeting we will discuss revenue. What questions do you want answered in that session?
