Title I

  • federally funded
  • schools qualify based on free and reduced lunch enrollment
  • uses iReady, SBA and teacher feedback to identify students to support
  • serves students in math and literacy

LAP (Learning Assistance Program)

  • state funded
  • uses iReady, SBA and teacher feedback to qualify students
  • serves students in math and literacy

ELD (English Language Development)

  • federally funded
  • uses the WIDA test to qualify students
  • serves all qualified multilingual learners through supportive mainstream and dual language classroom models .

SERVICES include

Students at Woodin receive support in many different ways through these programs.

Small Group Instruction

Students can receive support through grade level instruction in small groups.

Interventions

Interventions provide support in skills students need from earlier grade levels.

Lunch Bunch

Multilingual learners who are newcomers or at the emergent level participate in English development during a lunch group.

Professional Development

Title I/LAP/ELD staff plan and deliver learning opportunities for staff to strengthen their instructional skills.

Title I/LAP/ELD staff collaborate with teachers through planning, modeling and co-teaching lessons to provide students with solid instruction.

Dual Language (DL)

The DL program supports students in developing language by connecting what they know in their native language to English/Spanish..

FREE & REDUCED

Woodin qualifies as a school-wide Title I program. We have 28% of students receiving free/reduced lunch. In order to keep our status as a Title 1 school and continue to receive funding it is important to fill out the free/reduced lunch applications. There are many benefits to families who qualify for free/reduced lunch, such as:

  • 5th grade camp scholarships
  • waived technology insurance fee
  • waived sports fees
  • field trip scholarships
  • free or reduced breakfast and lunch
  • Title I staff and resources
  • Teacher access to reduced price books and field trips
