MCHS - Automotive Service Program

  • Students will recieve instruction on the service and diagnostics of all “under hood” vehicle systems.
  • Auto Diagnostics students will gain knowledge of engine construction, engine operation and engine mechanical testing.
  • Students will also study engine performance systems such as cooling, lube, fuel, and ignition.
  • In addition, vehicle electrical systems will be covered such as electrical fundamentals, circuits, batteries, starting and charging systems.

    • Assignments (all labs and classwork) – 60%
    • Assessments (tests/quizzes) – 20%
    • Engagement (participation/safety/behavior) – 10%
    • Final exam – 10%
  • Grading Scale:
    • A = 90 – 100%
    • B = 80 – 89%
    • C = 70 – 79%
    • D = 60 – 69%
    • F = 59% or lower

MCHS - Automotive Service Program

  • Late work: All missing labs and assignments must be completed and submitted within (7) seven days of the original due dates to receive credit and not obtain a permanent 0.

  • Retake policy: Students must have completed original work, labs quizzes, test, and assignments to be eligible to retake classwork. When eligible, students need to make an appointment with the instructor to discuss the options to retake of class work done in the lab.

  • Lab Work Make-Up: If you are absent for a lab assignment, you have seven (7) days from the day of your absence to complete the lab for a grade. Lab make-up work must be done during AIM and pre-arranged with your teacher.
  • If you cannot make up the lab during AIM, you can complete an alternative assignment provided by the teacher.
