Article 1 - statuts:

Title :

Article L. 312‐10 of the Code of Education is from now on written :

The teaching of regional languages and cultures belonging to the French heritage in compliance with article 75-1 of the Constitution is compulsory in the regions where they are spoken.

This compulsory teaching is provided according to terms defined by agreement between the State and territorial collectivities where these languages are used. When an agreement is reached, territorial collectivities can impose on all schools in their territory to adhere to the teachings of local languages and cultures as set out by point 5 of this article.

The Higher Council of Education is consulted in accordance with the attributions conferred to it in Article L. 231‐1, about the means of promoting the study of regional languages and cultures in the regions in which these languages are in use.

The compulsory teaching of regional language and culture is offered under one of the following two forms :�1. Teaching of regional language and culture in a specific class, compulsory for all

students of the school ;�2. Bilingual education in French and in a regional language of other school subjects

Families are informed of the different offers for learning regional languages and cultures

In our pursuit of a cultural renaissance, while the Renaissance Party acknowledges the importance of preserving regional languages, we advocate for a voluntary approach to learning these languages.

  1. Mandating the learning of regional languages may lead to resistance and a sense of obligation, which could hinder genuine cultural appreciation.

Our party also takes a cautious stance on full decentralization:

  1. Rather than advocating for full decentralization, the Renaissance Party suggests maintaining one official language while supporting regional languages in education and media. This approach allows for the preservation and promotion of linguistic diversity without jeopardizing the cohesive fabric of our nation.

In our proposal, we encourage television networks to include regional languages in their programming, offering cultural content that complements the unified national narrative.

  1. While teaching regional languages in schools is a commendable step, it is equally important to integrate these languages into mainstream media, including television and news channels. Without this integration, the learning experience may mirror that of studying foreign languages like Spanish or Mandarin, missing the opportunity to create a seamless connection between education and daily life.

The teaching of regional languages and cultures belonging to the French heritage in compliance with article 75-1 of the Constitution is compulsory optional in the regions where they are spoken.

This optional teaching is provided according to terms defined by agreement between the State and territorial collectivities where these languages are used. When an agreement is reached, territorial collectivities can impose on all schools in their territory to adhere to the teachings of local languages and cultures as set out by point 5 of this article.

  1. In case of a reasonably large number of interested students, they must be guaranteed classes on their regional language and culture within the normal timetable
  2. In secondary schools, the provision of classes on regional language and culture are entirely optional and remain outside of the normal timetable

We propose the removal of 'ALL' students to allow for a more organic approach, as forcing students to study regional languages may lead to resentment. Instead, in the name of cultural renaissance, we advocate for alternative methods such as fostering a genuine interest through cultural events and community engagement, to authentically preserve and celebrate linguistic heritage.
