ARTICLE IX. CHAPTERS

Section 1. Definition

Chapters shall be sub-elements of Regions, established as necessary by the Regions to improve Society support to their members and to encourage local participation in Society activities. All Chapter members shall be Individual Members in good standing of the Society and members of the Region hosting the Chapter.

ARTICLE IX. CHAPTERS

Section 2. Establishing Chapters

  1. Formation of a Student Chapter requires a petition signed by one Faculty Advisor at the host institution and three (3) students at that institution, all of whom are Individual Members of the Society in good standing.
  2. Student Chapters may also be established with a petition signed by one Faculty Advisor at a host institution and three (3) students from different colleges or universities in the same Region, all of whom are Individual Members of the Society in good standing.

d) Student Chapter and Geographic Chapter petitions must be endorsed and submitted by a host Region that agrees to provide oversight, support, and representation to the Chapter until such time as it may be dissolved as described in Section 3 below.

ARTICLE III. MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. Chapter Members

All Elective Officers and Directors of the Chapter shall be Individual Student Members of ASPRS attending one of the Chapter institutions. Students at these institutions who are not members of ASPRS may be Chapter Members but may not hold an elected Office. All Chapter Members must abide by the Chapter Bylaws, Region Bylaws, and Society Bylaws.

ARTICLE IV. OFFICERS AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Section 1. Elective Officers

The Elective Officers of the Chapter shall be President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. The offices of Secretary and Treasurer may be held by a single individual referred to as the Secretary-Treasurer.

ARTICLE IV. OFFICERS AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Section 2. President

  • Serve as a voting member of the ASPRS Student Advisory Council
  • Attend Student Advisory Council Board meetings
  • Submit an annual report of Chapter activities to the Region

Section 4. Secretary

  • Record proceedings of all Chapter meetings

Section 5. Treasurer

  • Prepare and submit an annual budget at the beginning of each Operating Year.
  • Prepare and submit an annual report (actual vs. budget) at the end of each Operating Year.

ARTICLE V. FACULTY ADVISOR

Section 1. Role and Responsibilities of Faculty Advisor

  • Petition the Region for the establishing of a Student Chapter
  • Serve as a liaison between the Chapter and the Region, Region Officers Council, and Society

  • A Faculty Advisor must be an Individual Member of the Society in good-standing

Student Chapter Officer Sponsorships

  • Regions may elect to sponsor annual memberships for student chapter officers or student members.
  • Regions pay for these memberships annually whenever they are due.
  • Regions can request a rebate from National of the membership dues paid on behalf of Student Chapter Officers when they submit their Region Annual Report. To be eligible for the rebate, they must submit a request along with a copy of the Student Chapter Annual Report.
