At Hornet, we believe in actively developing and encouraging new talent. The Hornet internship program gives young artists a chance to get hands-on experience in a supportive environment. We match interns with projects based on their area of interest and level of expertises. The mission of our internship program is to prepare and inspire the top talent of tomorrow.
The ideal intern is someone who is passionate about their craft, eager to learn, and excited about all that Hornet has to offer. If you are a recent graduate, new to the industry, or in your final year of schooling we urge you to apply. Read on for specific details of this semester’s opportunities.

Our intention is that interns be assigned to active productions.
This is a central part of the Hornet internship experience. Under the careful watch of our department leads and directors, interns will be able to practice their craft while benefiting from regular critiques from industry pros. Additionally, their contributions to real projects will help expand their personal portfolios.
Aside from project specific assignments, interns may also be engaged in a variety of other tasks including creating pitch materials, revamping internal presentation templates, organizing asset libraries, and other jobs that may arise.

The Hornet internship is full time, 40 hours a week and spans approximately three months. Our studio hours are 10am - 7pm EST. Working full time is key to this program, since it allows the intern to be assigned to real productions. If you are unable to commit to a regular forty-hour work week, please hold off on applying until you can. Alumni and recent grads are more than welcome to apply.
Hornet operates on a Hybrid Schedule (3 days in office / 2 days remote). We would like all students to work a hybrid schedule and collaborate with our team in person. When working from home, interns must be set up with their own hardware and equipment required for their specific internship. Software will be supplied by Hornet.

Interns are paid an hourly rate of $20 with overtime after forty hours worked in a week.

Hornet is seeking a Cel Animation / Design Intern to join our team. Hornet’s award-winning cel team synthesizes traditional hand drawn principles with cutting-edge tools and technologies. The ideal candidate will be inspired to work in a wide range of design languages in an interdisciplinary pipeline, with an interest in the cel production process from storyboards through final delivery.
Character and Background Designers are also encouraged to apply!

Animator / Designer
INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
Hornet is seeking a CG Generalist Intern to join our team. At Hornet, we understand that an exquisite and fully realized 3D world is a powerful tool for storytelling. Whether it’s through crafting robust models, to imbuing shaders with rich levels of detail, or composing visually compelling lighting design, our 3D team is constantly pushing toward new and technically innovative ways to communicate through the medium of 3D design and animation. It is this attention and focus on the fine details that makes each project stand apart for its bold designs and captivating narratives.
Ideal candidates can proficiently model, look develop, and rig CG assets, as well as animate, light, and composite CG shots. CG Interns may work with live action footage, digital still photography, and rendered CG elements to create assets that are seamlessly integrated into assigned shotwork.
�Candidates with experience in Maya, Houdini, Blender, Unreal or similar will be considered.

Hornet is seeking a Motion Intern to join our team. At Hornet, we understand that graphics are a powerful tool for storytelling – and telling a story is what we do best! Whether it’s through shapes, type, clever transitions, or engaging UI demonstrations, our motion team is constantly pushing for new and more innovative ways to communicate through motion, with an attention and focus on the fine details that makes each piece shine.

Compositor
INTERNSHIP OVERVIEW
Hornet is seeking a Compositing Intern to join our team. Hornet Compositors are the culmination of the creative output of whole teams of talented people. It's in compositing where the final details of design and story come together. The ideal candidate will have a good base of knowledge in Nuke and/or After Effects and be interested in learning new compositing tools and tricks to bring their work and utility within the post production team to the next level.
