Step 1: Confirmation

In order to confirm that you are qualified to do this dissection, you need:

  • 1 responsible adult who will commit to supervising/assisting you during your dissection
  • A well-lit, well-ventilated space where you can dissect your specimen
  • A way to set up your camera so that you can be on Zoom while you are dissecting, so that your audience can see what’s going on.
  • Email me once you have these things. That will to confirm your spot.

Step 2: Attend Safety Training

Next Thursday, Feb 4 meet on Zoom from 3-4 PM to talk about safety and go over training materials for your specimen.

Step 3: Research and Preparation

Watch as many videos as you can about dissecting your specimen. Write (steps) for yourself so you know exactly what to do. Print out your list of steps and have them next to you as you work. I will work on providing you with as many resources as you need.

Step 4: Supply Pick up

On March 4 there will be a supply pickup for anyone who needs special supplies for STEAM week. That means YOU!

Make sure your parents come and pick up your supplies. You will receive:

  • Your specimen
  • Dissection tray
  • Dissection tools

Step 5: STEAM WEEK!

  • Set up your workspace and camera.
  • Open your Zoom link 5 min before at your time.
  • Let people in as they arrive.

Answer questions, follow your procedures and have fun! Take pictures!!

Clean your tools and dispose of waste. Well done.
