WHAT IS TITLE ONE?

The purpose of Title I of Elementary and Secondary Act of 1965 (ESEA) is to “provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps” (ESEA, section 1001)

A Title One Plan will be developed throughout this year and finalized in March-April 2026. This plan is submitted to the District, and then to the State Department of Education.

FAMILY ENGAGEMENT POLICY AND COMPACT

    • How we work together is listed in our Family Engagement Plan, which will be sent home with students on the first day of school.
    • In the Spring, we will collect your feedback, evaluate that feedback, and update the plan for the following school year.
    • In the next few weeks, you will also receive the School Compact, which sets out the responsibilities of students, parents, and school staff in striving to raise student achievement. The compact is to be reviewed and signed each year by stakeholders.

PARENT’S RIGHT TO KNOW

BHS will provide parents, upon request and in a timely manner, information regarding the professional qualifications of the student’s classroom teacher, including:

    • State qualification and licensing criteria for the grade and subject areas in which the teacher provides instruction.
    • Teaching under emergency or other provisional status where State qualification or licensing criteria has been waived.
    • Teaching in the field of discipline in which the teacher is certified.
    • Whether the child is provided servies by paraprofessionals and, if so, their qualifications.

BHS proporcionará a los padres, previa solicitud y de manera oportuna, información sobre las calificaciones profesionales del maestro del aula del estudiante, incluyendo:

PARENT’S RIGHT TO KNOW

Parents may also request:

    • Information on the level of achievement and academic growth of the student, if applicable and available, on each of the state academic assessments required under this part in ESSA.
    • Timely notice that the student has been assigned, or has been taught for four or more consecutive weeks by a teacher who does not meet applicable state certification or licensure requirements at the grade level/subject area in which the teacher has been assigned.
