Introduction

Households of today are becoming smarter and more automated. Home automation delivers convenience and creates more time for people. Domestic robots are entering the homes and people’s daily lives, but it is yet a relatively new and immature market. Several robotic vacuum cleaners are available on the market but only few ones implement wet cleaning of floors A robotic cleaning robot is essential to eliminate floor cleaning as a household chore

Idea

  • Most of the people are working and do not have enough time to clean.
  • Most of us usually using a hand controlled vacuum for cleaning. Most of the robots are very expensive and large in size.
  • Households are becoming smarter and automated and this will easily adapted in ecosystem as it is controlled via smartphone.
  • For making cleaning process easier this will be a good idea to implement.

Features

  • Small in size
  • Low cost as compared to expensive vacuum cleaners
  • It is controlled via smartphone using app that uses Bluetooth to control robot.
  • Autonomous means it will detect obstacle & change its path
  • Time saving
  • Very effective for household needs

Application

  • Very much helpful for elderly people as well as for those who are unable to walk either due to physical disabilities or due to accidents.
  • In industries we require cleaning areas that are not safe for human. This can go & clean them.
  • It can be used in crowded places like bus stands, railway station, airports etc.
  • In universities, schools areas like places

Arduino NANO

The Arduino Nano is a small, complete, and breadboard-friendly board based on the ATmega328 (Arduino Nano 3.x). It has more or less the same functionality of the Arduino Duemilanove, but in a different package. It lacks only a DC power jack, and works with a Mini-B USB cable instead of a standard one.

HC-05 Bluetooth Module

HC-05 is a Bluetooth module which is designed for wireless communication. This module can be used in a master or slave configuration.

  • It is used for many applications like wireless headset, game controllers, wireless mouse, wireless keyboard, and many more consumer applications
  • It has range up to <100m which depends upon transmitter and receiver, atmosphere, geographic & urban conditions
  • It is IEEE 802.15.1 standardized protocol, through which one can build wireless Personal Area Network (PAN).

IR Sensor

An infrared sensor is an electronic device, that emits in order to sense some aspects of the surroundings. An IR sensor can measure the heat of an object as well as detects the motion. These types of sensors measure only infrared radiation, rather than emitting it that is called a passive IR sensor. Usually, in the infrared spectrum, all the objects radiate some form of thermal radiation.

L293D Motor Driver Board

The l293d is a popular motor driver is designed to provide bidirectional drive currents of up to 600-ma at voltages from 4.5 V to 36 v. Compact l293d motor driver board makes it much more convenient to use. With terminal blocks for connecting motors andamp. power supply and berg sticks for control signals from microcontroller this is most commonly used driver circuit in robots.

Future Scope

This robot can modified in future for a better effective work and multipurpose. Efficiency of cleaning can be improve. By using ultrasonic sensor and to add other features we can make a device that perfectly work for cleaning. If we add a timer than it can work for a special time with starting automatically.

This floor cleaning robot is limited to clean floor. stairs cannot be cleaned by this so it can be modified for cleaning of stairs. This robot can be modified for cleaning of more than one room by one robot. This robot cannot clean circular room we can programmed for cleaning every shaped room.

So these are the future scope of floor cleaning robot

Conclusion

We have successfully completed the autonomous IOT based floor cleaning robot model prototype and this project presents the implementation of an Automatic cleaning System controlled by Internet of Thing, but the speed of the vehicle can be reduced automatically due to the sensing of the obstacles.
