Design Efforts

  • Since Beginning of the semester: Manufactured sub plates, created voltage reduction circuit, built and tested anemometer system with amplifier. Built enclosure and assembled all components, created code to simultaneously record data and plot data.
  • Hardware updates since 66% build: Completed sub panels to hold components, achieved real time plotting and simultaneous csv recording of data, ensured system can handle up to 36 V from variable power source, ensured system can read current.
  • Made changes to circuitry and added a fan to cool the processors.

Parts Received/Manufactured

  • Sub panel and screen base have been fully manufactured and components have been mounted to them.
  • Cooling fan mount was 3D printed and mounted to the Pi. Cooling fan comes on whenever the Pi is on.
  • Voltage amplifier is utilized to produce a constant 9v supply to the anemometer, output is converted to wind speed within code.

Demonstration

  • So far, the team has successfully collected environmental data using raspberry pi, including temperature, pressure, wind speed, voltage, and current.
  • The enclosure has been modified with holes on the wall during the manufacturing process for sensors to go through as well as USB ports, and power in.
  • Saving data to csv files has been achieved while simultaneously plotting live data. Current and Voltage are unable to run at the same time in current state.
  • Real time plotting has been achieved for temperature, pressure, and wind speed.
