Intro to Translation

Grades 10-12

Students will learn the skill of translating text from one language to another, and will also learn that it is not always that simple. This course explores the complexities and processes that translators engage with in order to translate messages from one language to another.

Students can earn college credit and will gain valuable skills in translation that can develop into a career path as there is a high demand for translators in our community. Students who are very strong in the speaking and writing of English and another language. Translation focuses on writing, so students should have some familiarity with writing in both English and their other language. But you don't have to be a perfect writer in order to take this class! Students in second semester are eligible to apply for a paid internship in translation.

Advanced Spanish for Native and Heritage Speakers

Grades 9-12

We learn how to read music and play a band instrument. Eventually, we will perform at football games and pep rallies and other public events. Each person in band learns how to work as a team member and enjoy the benefits of performing as a group!

Band students (and other fine and performing arts students) will usually score at least 95 points higher on their SAT tests and other college entrance exams. As well, Band Students in general are admired by colleges and almost always offered the most in scholarships and incentives.

This ceramics course includes many sculptural and functional form making activities with clay. Our goal is to connect your own idea to your art piece, to create applying the techniques you learn, and self-evaluate the piece when they come out of the kiln.

Ceramics can be your lifelong hobby as well as your career if you wanna go to art college, open your own craft business, or teach Keiki. With a lot of hands-on work, you will also have a great sense of building, constructing, planning which is a very important skill set in many careers.
