Course Syllabus

Promoting recognition and respect for cultural diversity within the classroom, a critical conscience will be developed, forming leaders who respond to the needs of the moment on local, regional, national and international events.

Over the course of the year students will be able to understand various microeconomic concepts which will be related to real life experiences. The course focuses on three main units: The basic economic problem, The allocation of resources, and Microeconomic decision makers.

They also learn to work with simple economics data and to use the tools of economic analysis. Learners apply understanding of economics to current economic issues.

Semester 1

  • Demonstrate knowledge, use, and understanding of economic concepts, definition, and theories about the fundamental economic problem, factors of production, and opportunity cost.
  • Use of tools (diagramas) for the economic analysis of production possibility curve.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, use and understanding of the concepts of micro, macro and market economics.
  • Use tools (diagrams) for economic analysis and explanation of demand, supply and market equilibrium.
  • Apply economic reasoning to changes in the prices of goods and services.
  • Use arithmetic in economics for the interpretation of economic data.
  • Use tools (diagrams) for the economic analysis and explanation of the market system, market failures and the mixed economic system.

Semester 2

  • Express logical and clear written economic ideas about market agents (banks, households, workers, trade unions, firms)
  • Demonstrate knowledge, use and understanding of economic concepts, definitions and theories about business, production and market structure.
  • Use arithmetic in economics for the interpretation of economic data.
  • Demonstrate knowledge, use and understanding of economic concepts, definitions and theories about business, production and market structure.
