VERB Stem + たい　です

Begin with the -ます form of the verb.

Drop the -ます and replace with -たい.

Examples:

いき ます　go －　 いきたいです。 want to go

み ます　see －　みたいです。 want to see

きき ます　hear －　ききたいです。 want to hear

When we add たい to the verb stem, we change the meaning of the verb to 'want to (do)' something.

Purpose

  • The verb-stem + に いきます ／ に きます means ‘go’
  • (いきます) or ‘come’ (きます) to do something.
  • e.g. たべ   に   いきます = go to eat
