The Wolf and the B-Day Party
By: Mr Goodwin
WALT: write using descriptive language
TASK: Write a narrative that uses descriptive language, using something you or your whānau did during the school holidays for inspiration.
Beginning
The School holidays can be an interesting time of year for teachers. Without school to plan for, teachers have lots of spare time and tend to try and catch up with friends and family. One day in the most recent School holidays, Mr Goodwin tried to do just that.
It was a relatively simple and unexciting plan for the day and shouldn’t have had room for drama and excitement, however you never do know what could happen when you invite Mr Moran. It was Mr Goodwin’s Mums (Lynn) Birthday and Mr Goodwin, Mr Moran, and Stacey, decided to go and see her out at Muriwai Beach.
They all piled in Mr Goodwin’s car, because Mr Moran’s car is too slow and full of McDonalds rubbish. It’s not a far drive from Auckland city to Muriwai beach, only about 45 minutes. However on the way you can see beautiful farmland and lots of animals. “Look at the sheep” Said Mr Moran. “Check out the cows” exclaimed Stacey. “Wow those Llamas look just like you Zac” Laughed Mr Goodwin.
Needless to say Mr Moran didn’t talk to Mr Goodwin or Stacey for the rest of the drive out to Muriwai.

They arrived at Lynn’s house and were greeted by the dogs. A labrador and a Border Terrier. “Hi Mum” waved Mr Goodwin. “Hi Lynn” said Stacey and Zac together. “Hi Loves, thank you for all coming out to see me for my Birthday”.
Soon they were all inside catching up and having a very nice time. They ate snacks, had a roast chicken for dinner, and before long were lighting the candles on the birthday cake. “Happy Birthday to you.. Happy Birthday to youu... “ Suddenly without warning the dogs started to bark and howl at the song. It is difficult to tell if they are enjoying the song and wanting to sing along, or hating the song and wanting everyone to shut up.
“Hahaha, they always do this” laughed Lynn. They finished off the song and blew out the candles, all the while the dogs were howling at the top of their lungs. “Arrooo - Aroooo”. “Alright, thats enough, that’s enough” Lynn calmed the dogs down. “Gosh they are funny aren’t they” Laughed Stacey.
“Awwwoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo” sounded a tremendous Howl. “I thought I shut you up” said Lynn to the dogs. “That, that, that…. That wasn’t the dogs” said Zac shaking in his little socks. “That wa… wa.. was… hi.. Hiimmm” he quivered pointing outside at the gigantic Wolf on the lawn looking directly into the lounge.

Fight the Wolf
Suddenly the wolf charged at the window! Glass shattered everywhere and Mr Moran screamed. Quick as lightning Stacey dove to side and rescued the scared little Harry Dog, Lynn shielded the Labrador with a dining chair, Mr Goodwin grabbed his boxing gloves and got ready to fight, and poor Mr Moran simply wet his pants.
The wolf saw Mr Goodwin in his fight pose and lunged with his sharp teeth. Mr Goodwin blocked the wolf and grabbed it by the tail. 1-2 punch to the guts and the wolf shouted “Ow that really hurt”
“Aaaaaarghh the scary wolf is talking” screamed Mr Moran
Suddenly the Wolf turned back into a Human. “Sorry for the mess guys, I just got excited about cake.” Sighed the Ware wolf.
“Oh… Sorry for hitting you…” Said Mr Goodwin.
“It’s ok, when I’m in Wolf mode I forget to use my manners” Laughed the Warewolf. I’ll get going.
After the weird encounter they carried on with the birthday celebrations, and everyone had a great night.
Sneakily Mr Moran went out to the car to change his wet pants.

Mr Moran screamed. The Dogs Howled. The Girls cried. The Wolf Snarled. Mr Goodwin simply smiled.
“How are you smiling at time like this” screamed Mr Moran as tears of fear poured down his face.
“Just watch” Said Mr Goodwin.
The Wolf leapt at the window, everyone braced for impact, except Mr Goodwin who was still calm. The Wolf hit the window with extreme force but… the glass didn’t break. Infact the wolf went splat, and looked like a fly on a windscreen.
Suddenly a trampoline appeared under the window and the wolf fell, bounced on the trampoline and went flying into the sky!
“I installed that Wolf trap last weekend” said Mr Goodwin. I knew it would come in handy.
