IMPORTANT TIPS: Starting with the Pre-Assessment

Go to “My Learning Plan” in the right hand side

Once you have completed the Pre-Assessment, use top blue navigation bar to select Module 1

Hit the “Request Access” bar and it will refresh to your course page with the new module added to your “Courses in Progress” chart. Click title in BOLD to begin

Click “Administrator Pre-Assessment”

NOTE: If you do not see the Pre-assessment option, it may be due to the fact that you also have a teacher course account so the system does not recognize you as an admin course user. In this case, please contact the Pepper team to reset your account to view the administrator content. Click here to jump to slide 16 which gives more detail.

When you see “optional” next to a section on the left navigation bar, you can skip to the next section marked “required”

IMPORTANT TIPS: How to Find Course Certificate

10 of 16

FAQs:Why is my certificate not showing when I follow the locating your certificate steps?

First: Go to My Learning Plan and click view all.

Then: Look at your list of Completed Courses to be sure all 6 modules and the 7th final assessment module are listed.

This completed course listing excerpt shows CDEM2_Admin-20; CDEM3_Admin-20; CDEM6_Admin-20; and as well as a completed final assessment CDEM7_Admin-20 Administrator Final Assessment_20

ONLY if you see all 6 modules (CDEM1_Admin; CDEM2_Admin; CDEM3_Admin; CDEM4_Admin; CDEM5_Admin; CDEM6_Admin) as well as module 7 (CDEM7_Admin the final assessment) listed under completed courses will the steps to locate the certificate work.

The number one reason a certificate cannot be located is because you have not completed the full course. You should check that you have completed all 6 modules in the Admin-5 or Admin-20 course and received a passing score on Module 7 (the final assessment).

FAQs:Why can't I find the final assessment after completing all 6 modules in the administrator training?

First: Go to My Learning Plan and click view all.

Then: Look at your list of Completed Courses to be sure all items in the list show “course completed” in the right hand top of the module.

This example shows Module 6 of the Admin 20 course (CDEM6_Admin-20) as complete which would allow access to Module 7-the final assessment.

Last: If module 6 shows as a completed course, use the drop down at the top under the Admin/Principals tab and choose the final assessment, request access, and it will refresh stating you have met the prerequisites.

FAQs:I thought my Pepper account was linked to the COOL system but am not seeing my administrator designation on my license. Why is it not updated?

Administrator designations will only be added when the license holder manually uploads the final course completion certificate into COOL using the process below. Pepper and COOL account linkage only applies to teacher coursework because principal/ administrator designations can only be added to principal/administrator license holders.

Use the Add a Designation feature (next slide for directions) in COOL to manually upload your course completion certificate.

This will ensure the system archives your evidence for the designation to be added.

FAQs:How can I add the READ Act Administrator designation to my license?

First: Log into your COOL account

Click “Yes”

Then: Select + Designation to add the READ Act designation (under “Actions”)

Choose READ Act Administrator in the drop down menu, click YES then complete the application steps

Only upload final completion certificates: no transcripts, timestamp screenshots etc. will be accepted

FAQs: I am a teacher that was asked by my district to take the Administrator course. If I cannot add the READ Act Administrator designation to my license, how will my district know I completed the coursework?

The READ Act-Administrator designation is reserved for individuals holding a principal or administrator license, a principal authorization, an emergency authorization with either a principal or administrator endorsement or an interim authorization with either endorsement only

  • If your district required you to complete the administrator course requirements, please provide your district leaders with a copy of the certificate of course completion, which will be accepted as proof for district READ Act reporting requirements. Click here to read more about preparing for the reporting process.

  • If you opted to complete the course for your own learning, please retain a copy of the certificate of completion, which may be used for licensure renewal purposes. (Licensing will recognize the 5 or 20 hours toward the 90 required for renewal of a professional teacher license.)

  • If you anticipate obtaining a principal or administrator license in the future, you may submit the certificate of completion via an “add designation” application once you receive that license, and the designation will be added at that time.

FAQs: Can I use the 20-hour principal/administrator course to keep my teaching license up to date?

No, if an administrator is hoping to keep their teaching license up to date, then we would recommend they register and complete the 45-hour teacher option (or complete any of the other approved course options) and upload course completion evidence into the COOL system in order to add the READ Act Teacher designation to their teaching license. The 20-hour principal course cannot be used to obtain this designation/meet the teaching requirements.

The good news is that once they have the READ Act Teacher designation on their license, they can provide a copy of that designation to request the 5-hour principal/administrator course in lieu of the 20-hour course option. This is the best way to obtain both the READ Act Teacher designation to keep a teaching license up to date as well as obtain the READ Act Administrator designation to keep their principal/administrator license up to date.

FAQs: When the Pepper course was initially required for teachers, I started it but did not finish. Now that I am trying to register for Admin 20 course, I'm not able to get started.

Because your name and email were used to sign up for a teacher account, the platform still “thinks”you need to finish that course. If you want to shift to an administrator course instead, please email the Tech Support Team at PCG and cut and paste the following request.

To:PepperSupport@pcgus.com

Subject Line: Please change my role from teacher to Admin 20 and provide access to the Admin pre-assessment

Hello, I have a current account under this name __________ and email address _____________. I would like to take the ADMIN_20 course instead of the teacher course. Please reset my account so I can access the ADMIN_20 course and email me when it is reset so I can begin the course.

Thank you
