Postdocs must apply for Visa VITEM I.

If you have any questions concerning immigration and visa requirements for Brazil (e.g., required documents, fees and deadlines), please contact the Brazilian Consulate or Embassy where your application will be processed.

CPF �(The CPF (Cadastro de Pessoa Física) is an Individual Taxpayer Registry)

HOW TO APPLY

You can get a CPF number either once you arrive in Brazil or at your local consulate or embassy.

Time-saving tip: When applying for your visa at the Brazilian Consulate, take the opportunity to also request your CPF (It is strongly recommended to get it before your arrival. The CPF is needed for almost every document. At least it simplifies every process.)

AFTER YOUR ARRIVAL AT BRAZIL

REGISTERING YOUR VISA AND GETTING YOUR RNM (RNE)

(The RNM (“Registro nacional migratório”/ National Migration Registry) is an identity number that you obtain for staying in Brazil.

In case you are unable to get an appointment by yourself with Federal Police and your deadline is about to expire or you are in a hurry and wish to register as soon as possible, you can apply via AUCANI USP. It is necessary to be registered as a postdoc at IFUSP and have a usp number first (check it on the next page).

MAKING YOUR POSTDOCTORAL REGISTRY AT IFUSP

After you get your RNM and CPF, you must to fill out this form to registering yourself at IFUSP:

Declaration on Intellectual Property Rights (Declaração de Reconhecimento de Direitos de Propriedade Intelectual), which you can download at the website: https://portal.if.usp.br/pesquisa/pt-br/node/331;
Research Project Summary;
RNM protocol number;
CPF;
Passport;
Ph.D. Certificate or Diploma;
SINCRE (you will get it along with your RNM protocol);
Photograph for USP Card.

USP ID CARD AND BUS CARD

Once you have completed your registry as a postdoc, you must wait to receive an email from the Research Committee, communicating your USP Number and your Project Number.

*The BUS CARD will be requested by them, and you just have to wait until to be notified by email when the card will be available for collection.

Using your USP number, you will be able to registry a password to access USP Systems (https://id.usp.br/primeiro-acesso). Having done that, you will access System Atena (https://uspdigital.usp.br/atena/), and request your USP ID CARD*:
