Dear Denton ISD Community,

The high school athletics season is underway, and Denton ISD is excited to welcome our community to varsity contests at our C.H. Collins Athletic Complex and Bill Carrico Athletic Complex. This message serves as a reminder of stadium guidelines, along with updated information to help ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all fans.

Updated Student ID Requirement (Grades 6–12)

To support safety and accountability, all secondary students (grades 6–12) must carry their official school ID at all times when attending events at either stadium.

Students must present their ID upon request by stadium personnel, school officials, or law enforcement.

Gate Access by Stadium

  • C.H. Collins Athletic Complex
    • High School students: Enter only through Southwest Gate #2 on the Home Side with a valid student ID.
    • Middle School students: Enter only through Northwest Gate #1 on the Home Side. Students must be accompanied by an adult, and must present a valid student ID.
  • Bill Carrico Athletic Complex
    • High School students: Enter through the Southwest Gate on the Home Side and show a valid student ID.
    • Middle School students: Must be accompanied by an adult and enter through the Main Entrance Gate on the Home Side.

Students from other districts must enter on the visitor side of each stadium.

General Stadium Policies

  • Clear Bag Policy: Only clear bags, small clutches, or medically necessary items are permitted. Backpacks and large purses are not allowed.
  • No Re-Entry: Once you exit the stadium, re-entry will not be permitted.
  • Prohibited Items: Outside food and drinks, coolers, noisemakers, weapons, drugs, alcohol, smoking, and vaping are not allowed on stadium grounds.
  • Seating & Supervision: Denton ISD students are required to sit in the designated student section. Loitering or standing in concourse walkway areas is not permitted and may result in removal. Student backpacks are not permitted inside the stadium.
  • Sportsmanship & Fan Behavior: All guests are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship at all times. We ask parents, students, and community members to model positive behavior, show respect for players, coaches, officials, and opposing fans, and cheer in a way that reflects the pride of Denton ISD.

Thank you for your continued support in following these guidelines. By working together, we can ensure that our events remain safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for all who attend.

Parent/Guardian Informed Consent for School-Based Counseling & Support Services

Dear Parent/Guardian,Due to a new Texas law (SB12), written consent from a parent or guardian is now required before our school counselors can provide any counseling or social services support to students. Without this signed permission, our counselors will not be able to offer continued support in areas that directly impact your child’s academic success and overall well-being.

These valuable supports include:

  • Setting academic goals and creating academic plans
  • Developing social and emotional skills
  • Checking in about emotions, challenges, or concerns
  • Learning coping strategies and managing stress
  • Addressing school-related issues (e.g., attendance, test anxiety, behavior, peer conflict)
  • Building friendship and conflict-resolution skills
  • Participating in short-term individual or group sessions focused on school-related topics*

*Parents/guardians will be notified and asked for additional consent if individual or group sessions are recommended.

Without your consent, your child may miss out on these important services that help support their growth and success in school.

Please take a few minutes today to review and complete the consent form so our counselors can continue providing these supports.🔗 Consent for School-Based Mental Health Services

Please note: These school-based supports are not therapy and do not include psychological diagnosis, evaluation, or treatment. If such services are needed, our staff can help connect you with appropriate community resources.

If you have any questions, please contact our school counselor: Destini Hendershott, dhendershott@dentonisd.org, 940-369-4100.

Thank you to everyone who has submitted this. Please take a moment to review and complete the consent form if you have not yet had a chance to.

NOTES FROM THE NURSE

Hi, I am Susan Williams, RN, the School Nurse here at E.P. Rayzor Elementary. I have been a nurse for 30+ years and a school nurse for 18+ of those years. This is my 14th year in Denton ISD. I feel very blessed to be in Denton ISD, and especially at E.P. Rayzor. My standard hours are from 7:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. each school day. Please feel free to contact me at any time regarding the health of your child. My phone number is 940 369 4105 and my email address is swilliams@dentonisd.org. I want to partner with you to reach a higher level of health or to maintain the current level of health for your child!

A few reminders are listed below:

· If during the course of a visit to the nurse for illness or injury it is determined that a student needs to be picked up from school, then the nurse or other staff member will contact the parent(s). Students should not be contacting their parent during the school day through the use of a cell phone or a smart device. If your student contacts you to pick them up from school and they have not been to see the nurse or the nurse has seen the student and sent the student back to class, and the parent makes the decision to pick up the student, please understand that this may be considered as an unexcused Part of Day absence.

· I do not call home every time a student comes to the clinic to be seen.

· All medications that are to be administered at school require a doctor’s note (or pharmacy label if the medication is prescription) and a Medication Administration Request form.

16 of 23

· The students who are allowed to carry medication “on their person” are students who are diabetic or who have asthma or are at risk of anaphylaxis and will be self-administering medications for these conditions. There are certain criteria that apply to this situation; if you are interested, please let me know. Outside of these circumstances, students are not allowed to possess (have “on their person”) medicine at school.

· For information regarding the Denton ISD Medication Policy, see http://pol.tasb.org/Policy/Code/383?filter=FFAC.

· Please provide a complete change of clothing to be kept in your child’s backpack or classroom cubby for students in at least the following grades: PK, K, 1, and 2. You might be surprised to see how many big, strong 5th graders spill a whole bottle of water or carton of chocolate milk on their pants at lunch or fall in the one spot of mud on the playground. Sometimes I have an extra pair of shorts or underwear, but it really isn’t something to count on being available. If your child does come home with clothes borrowed from me, please wash them and return them as soon as possible.

· Hearing and vision screenings will be performed on all 5th, 3rd, 1st, Kinder, and PreK students who are 4 years old and all new to the District 2nd and 4th graders IF CONSENT HAS BEEN GIVEN THROUGH THE FORM sent home in emails this week. If your child needs further evaluation, a referral letter will be sent home in your student’s backpack. If you do not hear from me, then your child passed their screenings or you did not give consent for the screening.

· Spinal screenings will be performed on all 5th grade girls during the Fall semester IF CONSENT HAS BEEN GIVEN THROUGH THE FORM sent home in emails this week. Susan Williams, RN 940 369 4105 phone swilliams@dentonisd.org
