How to write policy recommendations

  1. Select the level you are going to target
  2. Be specific
  3. Be realistic
  4. Be concise but informative
  5. Explain the change that will happen if the policy recommendation is adopted

Specific Issues

  1. Teachers’ lack of awareness of the multiple areas that SEL covers
  2. Teachers’ lack of competencies in SEL
  3. Low involvement of external figures (school counsellor, social worker, psychologist etc)
  4. Low awareness and implementation of the whole school approach
  5. The school curriculum/ planning does not leave enough room for the development of SEL
  6. Low involvement of the students in decisions about SEL
  7. Low involvement of parents in SEL
