Academic and Career Opportunities

  • Some classes at SPEHS may earn you college credit through:
    • Dual Credit, Advanced Placement (AP), and Project Lead the Way
  • STEM Academy - 2 year program at Madison College
    • Apply during Sophomore year
    • If accepted you will attend Madison College Junior and Senior years
    • May earn up to 60 college credits
  • Early College Credit Programs (ECCP) allow you to take one or more courses through the UW systems, or other 4 year universities.
  • Start College Now (SCN) allows students to take courses at Wisconsin Technical Schools

Preview: National Standardized Tests

Pre-ACT - 9th and 10th graders take in late March.

  • What is it?? ACT Aspire Early High School is a test given to Wisconsin high school students. The subjects include English, math, reading, science, and writing.

PSAT - OPTIONAL - 11th graders can take in October.

  • What is it?? PSAT is a practice SAT test. Also, students’ scores may qualify them to earn entry into the National Merit scholarship program.

Preview: National Standardized Tests

ACT - 11th graders take in the spring.

  • What is it?? ACT is a required test given to Wisconsin 11th graders each year. Scores may be used by students for a variety of reasons such as college applications, scholarships, college course placement and/or NCAA eligibility. Students can retake the ACT on their own if they choose.

​

SAT - OPTIONAL - 11th and 12th graders can take on specified dates throughout the year.

  • What is it?? SAT is a test that students can register for on their own. They may wish to take it for the purposes of college applications or scholarships.

What is Scheduling with a Purpose?

​

  • In February you will be choosing your classes for the 2024-2025 school year.
  • It is important to think about your goals at SPEHS and your goals after graduating from SPEHS
  • You can then take your goals, look at the blueprints and decide what future career path might work for you.
  • You will then look at the course guide/blueprints and decide what classes best fit with your goals and future path. This is your PURPOSE for scheduling.
