ST. JAMES WAY

St. James Way is a pilgrimage route to the shrine of the Apostle St. James in The Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia. Many people take this route as a form of spiritual path or retreat for their spiritual growth.

Traditions

In Galicia, we find many traditions and festivities related to food, religion, dance, legends… Some examples are:

The night on 23rd June people make a bonfire (many people do it on the beach) and then they jump it to scare away spirits.

It´s typical to eat sardines, steak and drink “Queimada”

Carnival

It´s a festivity held throughout Spain but in Galicia there are some traditional costumes that many people wear, especially in the south of Galicia.

At this time people usually wear costumes and go to parades and to costume parties.
