Mrs. Kane and Mrs. Daley

I am so excited to spend my 10th year of teaching with you and your child! I’ve taught third and fifth grade. In addition to my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, I also have my Gifted Endorsement and Google Educator Certification.

I am so excited about our learning adventure together this year!

I love to make learning fun and come to life, but more importantly, I love to teach kids how to interact with each other and to support them as a person! We talk a lot about Growth Mindset and that making mistakes is part of how we learn.

Math

  • A daily math warm up that we will use all year long! We answer 4 questions Mon-Thur
  • Every Friday there’s an open notes quiz on those skills
  • This allows us to practice a range of important skills everyday opposed to only a few weeks out of the year!

  • Kids should already be pretty quick with their Addition/Subtraction facts! If not, PLEASE work on those nightly.
  • We take a 2 minute-timed test each week to track progress!
  • We will begin to memorize multiplication facts as we learn them!

  • Classlink
    • This is what they’ll use to access everything educational
    • Logins will be taped inside of their take home folders
    • To access Classlink: Go to www.ccboe.net and click the Classlink icon on the right hand side
  • Google Classroom (via Classlink)
    • This is where I will assign most online assignments!
    • Also where students will look for assignments if they will be out for 3+ days. After you let us know, we will put together an assignment with directions telling them what they need to do for each day!

iReady Math

  • Our math program has a component that is adaptive. It provides lessons one-at-a-time that are at the exact level they need to work on individually (based on their diagnostic test in the beginning of the year). These lessons might be reviewing skills they need to strengthen from previous grades or introducing new concepts on grade level or beyond.
  • There will also be “teacher assigned lessons” on 3rd grade skills that your child will complete from time to time!

Reflex

  • This is a website that we use to practice Math facts
  • It utilizes fact families to help them learn their facts
  • Right now, most are practicing their addition and subtraction facts. As they master this, they’ll move on to multiplication and division facts.
