A Couple of Couplets

I have massive measles and monstrous mumps,

a really, rotten rash and purple bumps

You say today is...supreme Saturday?

Goodbye, I'm going out to play pretend puppets in May!

So precious are true friends who lend their ears,

And give their time to wipe away sad tears.

My March Break was so much fun!

The first page has a minimum of 5 strong couplets. Oh look, the background is also coloured!

Ode to Basketball, A quatrain fit for Michael Jordan

Dribbling, shooting and scoring.

The only way to play

Is winning all the way!

On the BACK of the couplet page is one strong quatrain. Wow those detailed visuals really enhance the meaning of the poem!

I think I broke the right side of my eye.

If I go to school I will feverishly faint,

Because of this splitting headache.

Yesterday my friend told me we’re going to have a tsunami! ... What, what’s that mommy?

I’m on vacation. It’s March Break?! Welp, never mind!

Free Form Poem Example

My family lives inside a medicine chest;

Dad is the super-size band-aid, strong and powerful

Mom is the middle-size tweezer, which picks and pokes and pinches

David is the single small aspirin on the third shelf, sometimes ignored

Muffin, the sheep dog, is a round cotton ball, stained and dirty, that pops off the shelf and bounces in my way as I open the door.

And I am the wood and glue which hold us all together with my love
