EPIRB False alerts
They should be turned off immediately and contact the nearest CG unit and pass the vessel name, number, and EPIRB HEX ID written on the EPIRB to them. Explain what happened and that it was mistakenly activated. This will expedite the time of uncertainty of an actual/possible distress and minimized search and rescue research and resource hours.

Cancel my distress alert of DATE, TIME UTC, Master NAME, CALL SIGN, DSC NUMBER, DATE, TIME UTC.
Failure to cancel a false alert immediately will result in the deployment of search and rescue units by Rescue Co-ordination Centers in an effort to locate the source of the alert.

Method for testing fire extinguisher containers for strength and leaks. The test involves filling the vessel or pipe system with a liquid, usually water, which may be dyed to aid in visual leak detection, and pressurization of the vessel to the specified test pressure. Strength is tested by measuring permanent deformation of the container.
