Three Key Metrics
District Success is measured on Clubs, Payments, and Distinguished Clubs.
Due to the dedicated efforts of the talented District Leadership team and some additional hard working volunteers, as of March 31st, the District had 97 clubs in good standing. This is despite losing ToastUPS, BGE SSD, and the Wh'y' Not clubs immediately in the hand off due to chartering TEK Toast, Black Climate Justice, and Eastern Region Phi Beta Sigma.
With the addition of the BRAVE club, we have a clear path to achieve at least Select Distinguished District with the potential for President's Distinguished with our current club pipeline.
Incentive: Competent Communicator Manual
As a district-level Incentive, District 18 is bringing back the Competent Communicator manual from the legacy education program! This incentive runs from April 1st to June 30th. Download a digital version of the manual here. To receive credit, any speeches given for the Competent Communicator must also be eligible for credit toward a Pathways project, which must be specified in your incentive submission.
How to Participate:
After completing each speech project required by the Competent Communicator manual, use the Project Completion Record in the back of the manual (pictured on the right) to record:
The title of the speech and the date you gave it
The corresponding Pathways project for which you received credit and have any club officer initial the last column.
Once you’ve finished all ten Competent Communicator speeches, send a picture of the completed Project Completion Record dd@toastmasters-d18.org, along with your employer’s name and contact information.
What You’ll Receive:
Complete the Competent Communicator manual following the guidelines above, and you will earn:
A “Toastmasters – Where Leaders Are Made” pin
A personalized letter from the District Director to your employer highlighting your accomplishment and the communication and leadership skills you’ve strengthened.
Sales Competition
In order to build a pipeline of new club leads, I created a monthly sales competition for anyone in the District willing to make cold calls to companies in our District borders.
Each month, a prize is determined and then awarded to whomever accomplishes the highest combined reaching of Decision Makers and scheduling of Demonstration Meetings.
This has led to strong interest from Spectrum Support and Carroll County Community College to start new clubs.

District Director Office Hour
Every fourth Thursday of the month, from 8-9 PM, I'm hosting an Office Hour open to anyone and everyone. Bring your questions, your ideas, your concerns, your challenges.
In the two months so far, we've had opportunities to quickly get answers that solved issues and make connections to support initiatives like development of a Youth Leadership Program.
