What is the difference between DC and AP?

Dual Credit (DC)

Advanced Placement (AP)

Enrolled in the course at Lone Star College and enrolled in the course at CRHS

Enrolled in campus AP course only

Earning a grade at Lone Star College (no late work accepted and no redo policy) and earning a grade at CRHS

Earning one grade for coursework at CRHS

Pay tuition (currently $120) each semester

Pay for AP exam (currently $102)

Grade in course throughout semester determines credit

Score on the AP exam in May determines college credit (score 1-5)

Credit is from LSC & transfers Texas public colleges and many institutions outside of Texas (check your college(s) of interest)

Credit is from College Board. Universities determine the test score requirements. Qualifying test scores are nationally accepted.

Pick up a dual credit application handout if are interested in dual credit courses and do not have a LSC ID#.

  1. Complete the steps on the front and back.

LSC will email you your LSC ID# within 2 days of you completing your application.

  • Bring your seven-digit LSC ID# to your DC counselor.

Choose your core courses and levels

  • Please make your course selections carefully. All students in 11th grade must take seven (7) credits. Levels are determined by performance in current 10th grade courses. Students select courses for the next school year during the current spring semester. A decision of this nature should be given thorough consideration with parental aid.
  • All requests for changes must be submitted in writing by April 30, 2024. Staffing decisions are made for the 2024-2025 school year based upon the number of students registered for each course; therefore, course changes will not be made at the beginning of the school year.

We strongly suggest students work at their personal most challenging level while maintaining a healthy life balance.
