  • I am a double slug, earned my BA and MA at UCSC

  • I teach Algebra 1 and Compression
  • This is my 18th year at Balboa
  • I have a lot of Buccaneer Pride
  • My favorite event at Balboa are the Celebration of the Nations assemblies.

How is the class set-up?

  • All work is posted to Google Classroom
  • Work is posted on an agenda
  • Each agenda is a block of 2 or 3 weeks
  • Links to all Do nows, CW, HW can be found in the agenda
  • Students turn in CW & HW on a google slide deck, that they turn in on Google Classroom
  • All grades are posted regularly on Synergy.sfusd.edu
  • This is a rigorous class, we learn a new topic everyday

What is the grade break down?

35% Classwork

  • Do nows on Google Form or desmos
  • Desmos Activities
  • Google Doc w-s
  • Mostly a PDF w-s students can take a picture of their work and upload to GC

40% Assessments

  • Quizzes and tests
  • Could be Google Form, Desmos, Google Doc

15% Homework

  • Mostly a PDF w-s students can take a picture of their work and upload to GC
  • Google Doc w-s

10%Digital Journal

  • Google Doc, where questions about math concepts are asked.
  • There will be 2-4 Journal entries each grading period

How is the semester grade calculated?

There are three grading periods.

GP1 ends 9/25 GP2 ends 11/6 GP3 ends 12/8

We are waiting on the district to determine if there will be final exams.

Without Final Exams the semester grade will be an average of the grading periods

With Final Exams the semester grade will be a combination of the GP % grades and the Final Exam % grade
